Five Ways to Time Pass

Whatever is the situation, there is certain amount of time we do not have any work and we just want to kill the time through different options. I personally spend my free time doing few time pass activities to relax my mind and body. The following are the five ways I use to spend my free time.

Music: Most of us love music. I like listening to music when I am free and enjoy the music while traveling, and doing some tasks. This helps in relaxing your mind and you can get relief from the work pressures.

Games: Games helps me in refreshing my mood and changes the thinking style, if I am playing any strategic games. With increase in technology, different types of games are available on Internet.

Reading: I like to read short stories. Only few people read books these days. Depending upon the interest you can read any book you like. Books help to change attitude of doing things and thinking.

SuDoku: I love this time pass. While playing a sudoku the time runs very fast or involvement in completing it is so much that you do not bother about the time.

Conversation: I love to talk with my mom or friends when I am free. I share my thoughts about anything and try to share my feelings with them. Interacting with others helps you to learn new things and you can view an issue in different prospective of others.

Campaigning In Iraq the US Style

The people of Iraq find the western culture very attractive. Being in the clutches of a tyranny and an old fashioned government, they find it great to be free and to do what ever they like without many restrictions.

The description even implies to the politicians of Iraq who have been campaigning in Iraq the U.S style. With the inspiration from the recent elections in U.S, the Iraqi politicians have started campaigning in their locality with U.S campaigning strategies, for the elections.

This resembles a significant shift in Iraqis lifestyle since 2005. The first elections in Iraq were conducted were conducted on 2005 where politicians campaigned in a kind of radical environment. Now they are very confident about their security and all that stuff, which makes them to go to their people in order to ask for votes.

I don’t know how Iraqi citizens liked their previous elections, but this time they are going to enjoy their democracy.

Bin Laden Threatens Israel to Stop Attacks

After a long time, al Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden, comes before the world with his demand to stop aggression on Gaza. He has come up with war cry Jihad, against Israel for its violence against his fellow terrorist group Hamas.

Jihad is said to be the holy war of Islam, which terrorists are naming to all the anti-socio activities they conduct every time. This message was posted in one of those radical Islamist websites. According to the sources, the voice resembles Bin Laden’s in the previous records.

Bin laden has also talked about his primary rival America and its future President (Barack Obama). He said that America is begging small and big nations, for help to get out of its financial crisis. He also said that enemies no longer are feared of America and the Israel attacks serve as the best example for it.

He also threatened America to withdraw military or face worst consequences.

One for Every Three Minutes: Rate of the Diabetic Diagnosed

How long does it take for you to complete eating one average sized chips packet?

According to what I have found, the rate is 10 minutes. By this time 3 persons would have been diagnosed with diabetes somewhere around the world.

The rate of people diagnosed with diabetes has risen from one for every five minutes to one for every three minutes recently. According to Diabetes UK, there are 2.5 million people, only in Britain, who have been diagnosed with diabetes, and around 5, 00,000 people who don’t know that they have diabetes.

And in US the rate of new cases has surged to 90 percent high compared to the previous year. What adds up to this condition in US is the ever-increasing number of Obesity cases as well of sedentary life styles.

The most common type of diabetes is the type-2 diabetes, which is closely related to Obesity.

Oil Reserves of Nigeria: Peril behind Wealth

Little we know about people situated around oil reserves and the struggle they do every day for standard living, in spite of all the riches it brings to them.

Nigeria is one of the places where oil reserves are found in excess enough to make even a small landowner earn a lot. But this prosperity has become a curse to the people living in Nigeria.

Nigeria is listed in some lists where no country wants to get listed. It is the most corrupted country of the world. More than 70% of the country lives on less than a dollar a day.

Nigeria can be a good example for what happens with a nation when it is given so many riches which it could not handle it.

Though there are many oil riches with them, people struggle with anti social activities like unemployment, robberies, murders, kidnaps, and as we already said, Corruption. This resulted in a constant but not consistent revolution among the people against government and oil companies.

Impacts of Population Explosion on Earth

Earth is of the same size as it was 200,000 years where humans were said to start their inhabitation. Earth will remain the same size even it remained good for another 2 billion years.

But the population seems to increase each and everyday. It is estimated that there are around 6.6 billion human beings inhabiting the earth and the projection for the coming years, is always high.

In past ten centuries, human population has grown to ten times approximately. Where did we get that excess land to shelter so many human beings? Every time it seems that there is no land to support more people, and every year millions of people still find shelter on earth.

Amazing, isn’t it? Is Earth growing in size or does it possess still so much land to support growing population?

Many learned people have another argument that human beings are forcing many species of living creatures to an end and grabbing their place to inhabit.

Battery less Gadgets To Bloom In Future

Batteries are most essential devices, especially for the gadget users. I know that batteries are so important things, but I am fed up with recharging them each and everyday and their dying every time I have some important work. And every time I come across such situation, I dream of a batteryless world.

I wonder why they couldn’t figure out some thing in place of a battery for two centuries (battery was invented in 1800 by Mr. Volta).

There was a study recently which said that there will be batteryless gadgets very soon. Using these gadgets, you can simply power up your gadgets as you produce light through the lighter. You will have to impose much more effort than just pressing down your thumb on the lighter.

But the day is still so far away. W are still into a trial of running our cars through electric batteries. So, we didn’t even completely learn to use batteries efficiently.

I Wonder Whether Animals Can Predict Weather

Most of the people don’t believe that animals predict weather, but it is fact, that in America they still use groundhogs to predict the weather for six months. When a bad storm is on the way the dogs act nervously and cats get frolicsome. There are many animals which predict weather, but we are all not familiar with all those.

Before occurrence of any storms or floods frogs also sound louder than usual. And many birds including eagles fly lower to the ground and gather on tree branches and telephone wires.

It is surprise to know that very least number of animals are lost when dreadful tsunami occurred in the South Asia. Wildlife officials stated that no dead animals are found including elephants. Spiders also leave their web before raining. And cats and dogs eat grass before raining. All over the globe animals behaviors exhibit before the weather changes for the nastiest.

Why Smart Houses Are That Smart?

Have you ever heard of the Bill Gate’s smart home? It is actually an ordinary house or a mansion but equipped with high technology so that people have to strain much in maintaining it.

Actually we are expecting such kinds of homes in our near future but without the need to be in the list of world’s richest people. The amount that Bill Gates spent to own his house is tremendous. Only the world’s richest person could afford such kind of a house.

But they are going to become more common very soon that the automation would become as essential as walls for the house.

Actually the concept of smart houses was as old as 1970s. But they have to still improve a lot in terms of concept so that people need to spend very little amount to set up automation in their home.

If you have the required equipment, then all that you need is little programming to make your home turn smart.

I Don't Like To Buy Things Online

Nowadays in this busy society nobody is showing interest to buy the products by going to the stores majority of the people prefer to buy products online. Even though it saves times but it is risky to buy products as far as I’m concerned. The foremost drawback of buying online would be mis use of privacy. Because of hackers there are many risks for consumers like personal and credit card details, could be stolen and used fraudulently.

It is good if the online stores install good security measures in place to promise their consumers that they would be trying to do their best in preventing the fraud from happening. If it is safe enough, it is very beneficial to buy products through online. You can buy the products by sitting at the home. And be very careful in doing business and transactions online. If our details are maintained in privacy then it is the easy way to purchase through online.

Internet Advertising: A Classic End Of Boring Advertisements

I feel it convenient using remote for my TV when it displays an advertisement. It is the major use of a TV remote to change a channel effortlessly so that you don’t have to watch those boring TV ads for every 15 minutes.

I agree that it is the advertisements are the major cause of all those great shows and movies on TV channels. But how fair is it to torture viewers with those boring ads though they are spending some significant amount of money for watching their channels.

Internet Advertising though had the same boring themes at first, now started evolving into major chances of targeting customers without feeling bored. People can’t change channels like in TVs and they don’t have to change even if it is possible.

The evolving technologies are making those ads so wonderfully that people are not embraced with them. All it requires is little improvement in broadband speed. And then Internet advertising becomes the major choice of advertisers.

Poker Turns Life of a Young Man

Who says gambling is bad? It can make a person millionaire over night.

You don’t have to set up any software or search engine business to be a millionaire. While many great millionaires have lost much of their property to the recession, a 22 year old young man became a millionaire by just playing a card game.

Peter Eastgate has learned playing poker from his high school friends. It is only two and half years later he defeated all those professionals of this game and became the world champion or the world’s youngest poker champ, I must say. He took home around $10 million as price money.

What is the morale of this story? You need a big piece of extreme luck to fare well in games related to money. I even count the stocks business, in which many world’s greater businessmen play everyday.

The major difference between the stocks business and gambling is that people in gambling play with their own fortune whereas businessmen play with money of other innocent people who invested in them.

What Do You Want To Have For Your Future?

All the major inventions and innovations were not accidents. They were first planned before giving them a proper structure. It is the necessity that made them plan for those things. So we have the saying that necessity is the mother of all inventions.

Now if you can think of some real necessity in life, then you can be creating some cool fascinating technological gadgets for your future. If not creation you can at least design them for the technical scientists who have knowledge but don’t know what to make. Yes, it is a fact that there are many scientists out there still in search of a project that can make them popular, though they have much knowledge on how to make them.

So, all you have to do is give ideas to these people through some way like blogs. Think something realistic, not over fictious gadgets like flying saucers or time machines.

How stinky skunks can be good pets?

After trying all kind of pets, people were trying out for something new. This is when skunks appeared to them. But these stinky creatures were unbearable when domesticated, so they thought new plan of breeding them. They just started removing their scent glands that they no longer stink.

This is very inhumane that you are changing life style of some free living creature just for your entertainment sake. But we have a good record of maintaining many wild creatures as pets, what is a skunk for us. Skunks can be good pets; as good as cats can be. But make sure it is legal breeding a skunk in your place. Or else you will end up in hefty problems.

There are always many problems in breeding skunks. In UK you can breed a skunk only if are ready to bear its stink; thus making it practical to breed them, only if you have to keep unwanted guests away from your home. In US it is legal to skunks but there is mating problem over there.

Insuring Your Disability Cuts Your Risks

Nobody knows what is going to come on them for the next minute. So we do insure ourselves to help the people who rely on us, if something bad happens to us. There are many categories of insurances available. The most common insurances are life insurance and retirement insurances.

But there is also disability insurance which helps in paying benefits when you are unable to earn a living because you are sick or injured. Like all insurance, disability insurance is designed to protect you against financial disaster. Most disability policies pay you a benefit that replaces part of your earned income (usually 50 to 70 percent) when you can't work.

Many of us can’t even imagine themselves to be living like a disabled after an accident that changes their life. But the chances of being disabled is for longer than three months are much greater than your chances of dying prematurely, due in part to medicine that has made many fatal illnesses treatable.

The disability Insurance is most helpful when you are a business man. They have a special policy called Business overhead expense (BOE) disability insurance pays the insured’s business overhead expenses in disability business case. Expenses like Employees' salaries and payroll taxes, Interest payments on some business debts, Rental, lease, or depreciation of office equipment, and most of the vital requirements are covered under this policy.

Do You Know How Movie Clips Help Us?

Visual communication is more effective than any other type of communication. People remember the things for the longer time if they see them visually. While training the soldiers in the army or the police department they are shown the movie clips of the great gun battles of the wars and also the historic videos for getting an idea of what really happens during a war, what are the precautions to be taken during the war and also how to protect themselves from the enemies and techniques to save the arms and strength and effective utilization of the weapons and all the utilities during a war. It is not the number of men, weapons which matters; it is the way you fight and the planning done for the war that matters and for making the soldiers aware of all those things they are shown the videos of greatest of the battles and the war techniques.

The movies are made based on the previous historic events with some addition of music and action and drama but the true essence of the story is not changed in the movie. When I talk about the movies I remember the video clip I collected from the movie K19 an English movie in which the entire story moves around the captain of a submarine. It all describes how to be tough when the tough get going. As every one knows that a submarine moves beneath the water and if the submarine goes into the depth of the sea the density is high and the pressure increases. The captain of the ship shows his soldiers how to perform during uncertainty.

The Nicotine/Cotinine Test

The healthcare experts and doctors believe that nicotine is one of the most addictive drugs in use today. Tobacco usage results in the absorption of nicotine, the major component of tobacco through the lungs, buccal and nasal membranes. After that nicotine is metabolized into nearly 20 metabolites that are excreted in urine. Cotinine is the primary metabolite for nicotine tests and tobacco use screenings. Because tobacco users and smokers deny the usage, the insurance companies prefer the Cotinine test to find the specimens of nicotine/cotinine and after that the patients should use relevant drug test kit.

The COT One Step Cotinine Test Device (Urine) is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay for the detection of Cotinine in human urine. The cut-off concentration of Cotinine is 200 ng/ml and can be detected in 2-3 days after nicotine usage. In a period of 24-hour urination, approximately 5% of a nicotine dose is excreted as unchanged drug, 10% as cotinine and 35% as hydroxycotinine. The presence of the remaining metabolites accounts for less than 5%. That is the reason for Cotinine being used for the detection of nicotine. The test is based on the principle of highly specific immunochemical reactions of antigens and antibodies.

This test is used to obtain a visual, qualitative result of tobacco use and is for the determination of smoking status and/or tobacco/nicotine use. It is a simple and convenient test for the rapid detection of the presence of Cotinine in the human system. The COT One Step Cotinine Test is available to professionals and individuals concerned with tobacco use/abuse. The test is compact, self-contained and can be performed any time when there is a nicotine drug testing required. The COT One Step Cotinine Test Device (Urine) provides only a qualitative, preliminary analytical result. A secondary analytical method should be used to obtain a confirmed result. Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) is the preferred confirmatory method.

How Much Can You Spend Each Month for Apartment

One of the first steps in moving out on your own is to ensure you hit enough money to make the dream a reality. You need to not only look at what is required for your new miami apartment the first few months, but that you are able to sustain your new lifestyle for a year or more. This means taking a realistic look at your budget and what you can afford in terms of rent or a mortgage.

The best way to do this is to place your net income that is the income after your basic deductions into one column and in the other column list your potential expenses. The following are the basic utilities that should be included for sure.
  • Rent, utilities such as heat, electricity, water, cable, telephone, parking, transportation costs, food, entertainment such as books, movies, theatre or sports or concert tickets, game rentals, dinner out, etc.
  • If you are unsure how much you need for these costs, write down everything you currently spend everything - for a two-week period. Don't scrimp because you are keeping track.
  • Remember, if you want to uphold your current lifestyle, the amount you spend during two weeks, times two, is what you'll need to live on for a month.
  • If you don't know what it will cost for utilities, call up your local providers. Ask them for a ballpark figure for the size of apartment you'll be seeking. Most companies will give you estimates. Add this to your expenses.
  • If you haven't been paying for your food, toiletries, haircuts, laundry etc for your new dallas tx apartment, make sure you add this in. Food bills tend to be more expensive than you think. Try it for a week, then times that by 4 weeks and add it to your expenses.
  • Once you have tracked and documented your expenses before rent, add in a 5 per cent contingency (just to be sure), make sure you leave some for your savings account, and then deduct your total expenses from your net income to see what remains of your paycheck. Do this for a one-month period.
  • You should have a pretty good idea what you can spend each month on rent.

Behavioral Targeting

Behavioral targeting is a technique used by online publishers and advertisers to increase the effectiveness of their campaigns. Behavioral targeting uses information collected on an individual's web-browsing behavior, such as the pages they have visited or the searches they have made, to select which advertisements to display to that individual. Practitioners believe this helps them deliver their online advertisements to the users who are most likely to be influenced by them. Behavioral marketing can be used on its own or in conjunction with other forms of targeting based on factors like geography, demographics or the surrounding content.

Onsite Behavioral Targeting
Behavioral targeting techniques may also be applied to content within retail or other e-commerce website as a technique for increasing the relevance of product offers and promotions on a visitor by visitor basis. Again, behavioral data can be combined with demographic and past purchase history in order to produce a greater degree of granularity in the targeting.

Self-learning onsite behavioral targeting systems will monitor visitor response to site content and learn what is most likely to generate a desired conversion event. Some good content for each behavioral trait or pattern is often established using numerous simultaneous multivariate tests. Onsite behavioral targeting requires relatively high level of traffic before statistical confidence levels can be reached regarding the probability of a particular offer generating a conversion from a user with a set behavioral profile. Some providers have been able to do so by leveraging its large user base, such as Yahoo! Some providers use a rules based approach, allowing administrators to set the content and offers shown to those with particular traits.

Forms Of Amnesia

Amnesia is a condition in which memory is disturbed. The causes of amnesia are organic or functional. In simple terms it is the loss of memory. Organic causes include damage to the brain, through trauma or disease, or use of certain (generally sedative) drugs. Functional causes are psychological factors, such as defense mechanisms. Hysterical post-traumatic amnesia is an example of this. Amnesia may also be spontaneous, in the case of transient global amnesia. This global type of amnesia is more common in middle-aged to elderly people, particularly males, and usually lasts less than 24 hours.

Another effect of amnesia is the inability to imagine the future. A recent study published online in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences shows that amnesiacs with damaged hippocampus cannot imagine the future. This is because when a normal human being imagines the future, they use there past experiences to construct a possible scenario.

Forms of Amnesia
  • In anterograde amnesia, new events contained in the immediate memory are not transferred to the permanent as long-term memory. The sufferer will not be able to remember anything that occurs after the onset of this type of amnesia for more than a brief period following the event.
  • Retrograde amnesia is the inability to recall some memory or memories of the past, beyond ordinary forgetfulness.
The terms are used to categorize patterns of symptoms, rather than to indicate a particular cause or etiology. Both categories of amnesia can occur together in the same patient, and commonly result from drug effects or damage to the brain regions most closely associated with episodic/declarative memory: the medial temporal lobes and especially the hippocampus.

Anti-Globalization

Anti-globalization is a pejorative term used to describe the political stance of people and groups who oppose the neo-liberal version of globalization.

“Anti-globalization" may involve the process or actions taken by a state in order to demonstrate its sovereignty and practice democratic decision-making. Anti-globalization may occur in order to put brakes on the international transfer of people, goods and ideology, particularly those determined by the organizations such as the IMF or the WTO in imposing the radical deregulation program of free market fundamentalism on local governments and populations.

Moreover, as Canadian journalist Naomi Klein argues in her book No Logo: Taking Aim at the Brand Bullies anti-globalism can denote either a single social movement or an umbrella term that encompasses a number of separate social movements such as nationalists and socialists. In either case, participants stand in opposition to the unregulated political power of large, multi-national corporations, as the corporations exercise power through leveraging trade agreements which damage in some instances the democratic rights of citizens, the environment particularly air quality index and rain forests, as well as national governments sovereignty to determine labor rights including the right to unionize for better pay, and better working conditions, or laws as they may otherwise infringe on cultural practices and traditions of developing countries.

Most people who are labeled "anti-globalization" consider the term to be too vague and inaccurate Podobnik states that "the vast majority of groups that participate in these protests draw on international networks of support, and they generally call for forms of globalization that enhance democratic representation, human rights, and egalitarianism."

Stiglitz, Joseph and Andrew Charlton write:
“The anti-globalization movement developed in opposition to the perceived negative aspects of globalization. The term 'anti-globalization' is in many ways a misnomer, since the group represents a wide range of interests and issues and many of the people involved in the anti-globalization movement do support closer ties between the various peoples and cultures of the world through, for example, aid, assistance for refugees, and global environmental issues.”

How to avoid injuries while doing exercises in gym

Training in gym may be hard and heavy for most of you but you get awesome muscular exercise to be done, it can be trouble for the health of your joints and connective tissue. It’s a common thing that while doing your exercise you would face many injuries. This is simply the reality of intense weight training, and while there are no guarantees that you will be able to completely avoid getting injured, you can certainly take specific steps to lessen the chance. An injury is the absolute last thing you could ever hope for, as it will stop you dead in your muscle-building tracks. The following are the major rules for reducing the risk of injury. If you implement them all you definitely reduce your risk of getting hurt.

Appropriate warm-up
Proper warm-up is the best thing you can do for avoiding injuries. It only takes around 15 minutes, but it will prepare your mind and body for the hard work that will follow. You want to increase the blood flow into the surrounding connective tissue. Do 5 minutes of light cardiovascular exercise in gym before each workout - then 4 or 5 warm-ups for your first exercise.

Always train with proper form
This should be obvious. But I see so many people neglecting this step. I see people throwing around weights in almost ballistic manner. Remember a good exercise is not supposed to 'look cool' for people around you but to be effective for your muscles. So always stick to the proper form and technique for each exercise.

Training within your personal limits
This is not ego training here. You are not in the gym to impress people around you or show the next to you that your can lift more. This is a long-term, scientific and boring process. Always stick to your own limit - not those of somebody else. Don't get into contests or challenges in the gym. This is training - not competition.

Always know when to quit
Stop when you have reached the point that you cannot complete another rep in its proper form. Put the weight down and rest up for your next set. Don't start to squeeze out an extra bit with jerky sounds. If your muscles tell you to stop then take a break.

Do not ignore pain or aches
When you're motoring along through a training program and are making progress from week to week, the idea of quitting just seems impossible. This can sometimes lead us to ignore those obvious injuries and pretend as if they aren't really there as we often 'work through' the pain and hope that it magically disappears.

If you feel that something definitely isn't right and can sense that you probably shouldn't be training, get the issue checked by a professional and then take the proper measures to heal. While it may hurt your progress in the short term, the overall long-term effect will be a positive one.

What makes your garden look good?

Generally, you want shrubs and trees, plus grass to soften the hard, angular lines of your house and lot. However, a flat sea of green grass adds contrast for your shrub beds. Cool grass on the sole of a bare foot in summer is a much-savored treat.

A few very tall things are essential to put your house in scale, or set it off, especially if it's a tall or big house. But you don't want so many tall things that they block all the light. A tall tree takes up a lot of space but it adds the element of 'grandeur.' A big tree goes on the south or west side to protect you from the blazing hot sun. It also adds habitat for kids and songbirds. Carve out your beds in gentle sweeps around the outside perimeter. Make them three times as big as you think you need them. The amount of grass you need is really quite small, maybe enough for six chairs and a picnic table or perhaps three beach towels. If you are lucky enough to have a lot of land, you may wish to break it up into 'rooms' with shrub bed peninsulas or fences, the path winding from one 'room' to another.

One of the most pleasurable gardening experiences is that of mystery, as when you catch a glimpse of more gardens around a corner or through a gate. To acquire this inviting air of mystery to your house, plant up the outside corners with your tallest trees and shrubs and have them descend to the entry to the street. This will mean that your landscape cups your house like an open hand. The broad openings, however, will invite you in and let in light.

Another good thing to incorporate in your yard is having a truck access. At some point or another you will need to get a big couch to the back door or a cement truck or 6 yards of mulch. Even if this is a giant gate in your fence, which you open once in six years, be sure you have it. If the access is not big enough for a truck, then make it at least wide enough for a wheelbarrow. Having a hidden utility area is also a very good idea. If your house is up a steep hill, you will want to build a rockery, which you can make special with good plant choices and stepped back rocks that leave you places to plant. If your whole area slopes steeply, you should seriously consider terracing, or rock or wall reinforcements. When landscape architects tell you the ground cover will spread and hold the bank, they lie. And if it is too steep for you to walk on, this is what will happen. Also erosion occurs with undeniable regularity on steep slopes.

Keep in mind that gravity always wins. Having steep slopes means that the summer irrigation water runs off before it sinks into the soil. Steep slopes mean that all that expensive mulch that you spread to keep the weeds down will migrate down to the bottom in about a year, leaving bare spots above and a useless thick pile at the bottom. Invest the time and money to fix your steep grades now before starting your garden.

Recent research and innovation on Digital cameras

Lighting, optics, sensors, processing, storage, and display, with software weaving them together, are all advancing. Here are a few examples for the recent research on digital cameras.
  • 3D models can be created from collections of normal images. The resulting scene can be viewed from novel viewpoints, but creating the model is very compute-intensive. Microsoft's Photosynth is available with models of famous places.
  • High Dynamic Range cameras and displays are commercially available. >120-decibel sensors are in development. You can create your own HDR images, with a non-HDR camera, by combining multiple exposures.
  • Motion blur can be dramatically removed by a flutter shutter (a flickering shutter which adds a signature to the blur, which post processing can recognize). It is not yet commercially available.
  • An object's specular reflection can be captured using computer controlled lights and sensors. This is needed to create attractive images of oil paintings, for instance. It is not yet commercially available, but is starting to be used by museums.
Other areas of progress include enlarged gamut sensors, software, and displays; and computer controlled lighting.

Mobile Phone’s added advantage

Mobile phones provide connection to all the important people in our life. But in some cases cell phone can actually be a handy device for aiding in homework and studies, and it can be a great safety feature, as well.

Cell Phones and Time Management:
Reminders and alarms are some of the most useful tools on a cell phone, but they are also the least appreciated. You could also use calendar reminders to notify you when projects and assignments are due.

Cell Phone as Audio Tool:
Some cell phones come equipped with a voice recorder. This tool can be priceless if you tend to forget things. It’s a great feature for auditory learners.

Pictures and Illustrations:

Coffee contains caffeine

As every body know that coffee contains caffeine. Caffeine is a drug that stimulates the central nervous system. Even though many of us are addicted to coffee. Coffee owes its popularity in part to the simulative effect of its caffeine constituent. Caffeine is found naturally in coffee, tea, and chocolate. Colas and some other soft drinks contain it. Caffeine also comes in tablet and capsule forms and can be bought without a prescription. Over-the-counter caffeine brands include No Doz, Overtime, Pep-Back, Quick-Pep, Caffedrine, and Vivarin. Some pain relievers, medicines for migraine headaches, and antihistamines also contain caffeine. In other words Caffeine, a bitter alkaloid, can also contribute to irritability, depression, diarrhea, insomnia, and other disorders. Decaffeinated coffees, developed in the early 1900s, account for c.18% of the U.S. market. For those without the time or the inclination to brew their own, there are instant or soluble coffees, introduced in 1867, which account for c.17% of U.S. coffee sales. Depending on the type of coffee and method of preparation, the caffeine content of a single serving can vary greatly. On average, a single cup of coffee of about 207 milliliters (7 fluid ounces) or a single shot of espresso of about 30 mL (1oz) can be expected to contain the following amounts of caffeine: Drip coffee: 115–175 mg, Espresso: 100 mg, Brewed/Pressed: 80–135 mg, Instant: 65–100 mg, Decaf, brewed: 3–4 mg, Decaf, instant: 2–3 mg.

Coffee contains caffeine. Decaffeinated coffee is coffee beans (or instant coffee) from which the caffeine has been extracted with solvent, carbon dioxide under pressure (supercritical CO2), or water. Coffee decaffeinated by water extraction is sometimes labeled as ‘naturally’ decaffeinated.

Caffeine as a medicine is usually infused into a vein using a special pump once every 24 hours at a regular scheduled time by a trained health care professional in the hospital. Once the infant is stable or eating properly, the caffeine injection will be changed to a solution that is given by mouth. Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed. When taking caffeine one should be careful about the following things Caffeine is not intended for long-term use. It is usually only prescribed for a few weeks. Your infant's prescriber may need to monitor the levels of caffeine in your baby's blood to see if the dose is correct. Notify your prescriber if your infant's breathing does not improve or gets worse. Avoid food and drinks that contain additional caffeine, like coffee, tea, colas and chocolate if you are breast-feeding your infant while the infant is taking caffeine. Hassle Saving Tips For Your Apartment Lease

If it is your first independent home or just another apartment it is quite natural that one gets exited. Similarly I was so exited moving into my new Miami apartment. The excitement accompanying by the list of things to do is no reason to be careless with your reading your leasing agreement. It means reading the lease agreement in full. This is your only defense to lease practices that may make your renting experience less than enjoyable. Reading your lease and all relevant conditions is crucial to your experience in the apartment. It is your responsibility to know what you’re signing, after all. Everything that relates to the apartments’ operations should be clearly spelled out within the lease agreements and conditions. This will cover the landlord’s responsibilities as well as your own.
Knowing what you are agreeing to would be the better way to head off future problems. This way you will not be taken by surprise when you are required to pay for certain items, repair specific things on your own or anything else that may come up. It is also the best way to head off disagreements with management. Knowing with is spelled out within your lease agreement is the best way to keep your relationship with the landlord or management company on an even keel. While reading the lease and other paper work, you may come across phrasing or practices spelled out that you do not understand. Do not sign anything until all items have been completely explained to you. Knowing exactly what is expected of you and what you can expect from your landlord is the surest way to rent happily.

Business Plan Content

A business plan is a formal statement of a set of business goals, the reasons why they are believed attainable, and the plan for reaching those goals. It may also contain background information about the organization or team attempting to reach those goals.
The business goals being attempted may be for-profit or non-profit. For-profit business plans typically focus on financial goals. Non-profit and government agency business plans tend to focus on service goals. Business plans may also target changes in perception and branding by the customer, client, tax-payer, or larger community. A business plan that has changes in perception and branding as its primary goals is called a marketing plan.
Business plans are decision making tools. There is no fixed content for a business plan. Rather the content and format of the business plan is determined by the goals and audience. A business plan should contain whatever information is needed to decide whether or not to pursue a goal.
For example, a business plan for a non-profit might discuss the fit between the business plan and the organization’s mission. Banks are quite concerned about defaults, so a business plan for a bank loan will build a convincing case for the organization’s ability to repay the loan. Venture capitalists are primarily concerned about initial investment, feasibility, and exit valuation. A business plan for a project requiring equity financing will need to explain why current resources, upcoming growth opportunities, and sustainable competitive advantage will lead to a high exit valuation.
Preparing a business plan draws on a wide range of knowledge from many different business disciplines: finance, human resource management, intellectual property management, supply chain management, operations management, and marketing, among others. It can be helpful to view the business plan as a collection of sub-plans, one for each of the main business disciplines.

Mezzanine Capital

Mezzanine capital or mezzanine debt is a broad financial term that refers to unsecured, high-yield, subordinated debt or preferred stock that represents a claim on a company's assets that is senior only to that of a company's shareholders.

Structure
Along with the typical interest payment associated with debt, mezzanine capital will often include an equity stake in the form of warrants attached (or equity co-investments) to the debt obligation or a debt conversion feature identical to that of a convertible bond.

Mezzanine capital is a more expensive financing source for a company than secured debt or senior debt. It is more expensive because of the increased credit risk, i.e. in the event of default; mezzanine debt is less likely to be repaid in full. It is only secured by the equity of the company, and not the company's tangible assets (e.g., property, cash or accounts receivable). In compensation for the increased risk, mezzanine debt holders will require a higher interest payment or an equity stake in the company. However, it is cheaper sources of financing than equity as the current equity holders achieve less dilution.

Uses
  • Financial sponsors may seek to help finance a leveraged buyout with mezzanine capital in order to reduce the amount of the investment.
  • An early-stage company may choose to raise money with mezzanine capital if the company does not have sufficient assets to collateralize, but does not want to achieve further dilution by raising additional equity.
  • Middle-market companies may be unable to access the high yield market due to high minimum size requirements, which create a need for flexible, private mezzanine capital in the US$20 million to US$100 million range.

Winter Safety Tips

Families should be prepared for all hazards that affect their area and themselves. Follow these basic steps to develop a family disaster plan:
  • Learn your community warning signals.
  • Meet with your family to create a plan. Pick two places to meet: a spot outside your home for an emergency such as fire, and a place away from your neighborhood in case you cannot return home. Choose an out-of-area friend as your family check-in contact for everyone to call if the family becomes separated.
  • Implement your plan. Post emergency telephone numbers by the phones. Install safety features in your house such as smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. Inspect your home for potential hazards and correct them. Have your family learn basic safety and first aid measures. Have disaster supplies on hand.
Take the time now to get your home ready for the winter season by following these tips:
  • Have your heating system checked by a professional annually. This will ensure that your system is working safely and efficiently which, in turn, will save you money. If you heat by wood, clean your fireplace or stove. Have your chimney flue checked for any buildup of creosote and then cleaned to lessen the risk of fire.
  • Make sure your home is properly insulated. If necessary, insulate walls and attic. This will help you to conserve energy and reduce your homes power demands for heat.
  • Caulk and weather-strip doors and windowsills to keep cold air out.
  • Install storm windows or cover windows with plastic from the inside. This will provide an extra layer of insulation, keeping more cold air out.
  • Inspect and flush your water heater.
  • Clean gutters. Leaves and other debris will hamper drainage.
  • Replace batteries of smoke, heat and carbon monoxide detectors. If you did not do it when you set the clocks back, do it now.

General Information On Hand Hygiene

Good hand hygiene is one of the most critical control strategies in outbreak management. Hand hygiene is defined as any method that removes or destroys microorganisms on hands. It is well documented that the most important measure for preventing the spread of pathogens is effective hand washing. The amount of time spent washing hands is important to reduce the transmission of pathogens to other food, water, other people and inanimate objects, such as door knobs, hand railings and other frequently touched surfaces. Proper hand hygiene involves the use of soap and warm, running water, rubbing hands vigorously for at least 20 seconds. The use of a nailbrush is not necessary or desired, but close attention should be paid to the nail areas, as well as the area between the fingers. Wet hands have been known to transfer pathogens much more readily than dry hands or hands not washed at all. The residual moisture determines the level of bacterial and viral transfer following hand washing. Careful hand drying is a critical factor for bacterial transfer to skin, food and environmental surfaces.

In general, hand washing is required whenever significant hand contamination occurs and the spread of pathogens through cross-contamination may occur. Some specific activities where hand washing is required include:
  • Using the toilet
  • Cleaning toilets and bathrooms
  • Handling potentially contaminated or soiled clothes and bed linens
  • Cleaning up after s vomiting or fecal accident
  • Cleaning and sanitizing environmental surfaces
  • Before preparing food
  • After eating, drinking and smoking
  • After removing gloves

How To Take Pictures Of People

In the last few years digital cameras have gone from being expensive and taking bad pictures to inexpensive and taking high quality pictures. Now we just need to learn how to take great pictures.

Move Close To Your Subject
Most people prefer to capture the entire person in the picture. While this may be great for taking a picture of a bridge or skyline, it makes for boring pictures of people. If you move close to your subject you get interesting pictures. Don't be afraid to crop part of the subject out of the picture for added visual interest. Get lower or higher than your subject - Depending on the subject, getting lower or higher makes for a much better picture, especially with children. If you're looking down on someone and taking their picture, you're picture will lack depth of field. By getting down on a knee and looking them right in the eye your picture will direct the eye of the viewer toward the subject.

Don't Be Afraid To Direct
People naturally stand near each other for pictures. This is great for family portraits, but people need to be coached, or directed. Imagine yourself as a movie director and you need to get your subjects into interesting poses, near an interesting background, away from telephone poles, etc. Make sure that the car isn't in the background and the dog is pooping on the lawn. That last bit is from personal experience! Use flash outside - When taking pictures in bright sunlight, the flash on your camera can act as "fill flash". This will brighten the faces and shaded spots of your subject. This is especially important if you're subject is wearing a hat or standing in the shade.

Manage the Light
If you know that you're going to be taking pictures, try to schedule the photos to be taken during early morning or late afternoon. These times during the day don't have harsh overhead light that casts dark shadows. Also make sure your subjects are partially in the shade, wearing sunglasses or blocking the sun with a tree, hat, umbrella or building. If you're taking a picture in the sun it should not be directly overhead unless it's a cloudy or overcast day.

The New Rules of Internet Marketing

Internet marketing is very different, and if you are not knowledgeable, you can allocate budget improperly or direct your efforts toward an area that won't provide returns. We all know that traditional marketing is a monologue; companies deliver messages to the market and push customers through the consideration process. The Internet changes the ways we can communicate with customers, adding new media like blogs and Web video. Internet media enables two-way communication.

The mistake companies making is they use new online marketing tools to pursue traditional marketing goals such as driving awareness, consideration, adoption, and purchase. That's a mistake, because the rules of traditional marketing were shaped by what could be accomplished using one-way mass media. The central goal of online marketing isn't awareness, its engagement. And the five key tools to produce engagement are affinity, personality, community, co-creation, and advocacy.

Engagement means getting the customer involved with your company, with your products, and often with your people. You want your customers to get to know your organization and its values and services. When customers like what they see and experience, the relationship deepens, leading to affinity.

Affinity refers to leveraging the depth and interactivity of the Web to create a memorable relationship with the customer. Some of the best techniques for building affinity include being useful when a customer's not buying, sharing passions, extending the product online, and creating cool experiences.

Personality refers to how your company interacts with the world, both emotionally and rationally. The company's personality must be both distinctive and genuine. Unlike a brand image, it can't be faked. Your company's culture constrains the personality you can build online.

Community as a marketing tool challenges almost every expectation of traditional marketing. Instead of controlling the marketing process, the company hosts a social interaction in which customers develop most of the content. But good communities don't generally grow on own. The most effective ones are carefully cultivated and subtly supervised.

Co-creation occurs when people enjoy your product or services so much that they want to build on top of something you've already done or create something new that could be used with your product line. When done right, this can be very powerful and can provide real revenue benefits. It can also be very intimidating to a company that's used to doing all the thinking for its customers. It really requires a change in mindset.

Advocacy refers to a new way to describe customers who used to be considered hobbyists. But these folks go far beyond what we've known. They're users of a product or service who likes tinkering with it beyond what the normal user might do.

The company's goal should be identifying, caring for, and training advocates customers who are willing to help market your products to others. Marketing done right is about much more than just communicating to customers. It's about shaping your company's offerings to match the needs of the marketplace. The Internet enables new business models, including one-to-many communication that we could have only dreamed about previously. It provides us with tools we can use to guard against competitors, and lets us explore new possibilities.
